Thank you to everyone who came out to participate in and support the 2024 Run to Read! Runners can see their race times here: 2024 Run to Read 5K Results.

If you placed overall or in your age group and did not receive your winners medal, you can pick them up at the District 54 offices, 524 E. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg – or you can email [email protected] and request the medal be sent to a D54 school.

Join the D54 Education Foundation, School District 54 and our Title Sponsor, Northwest Ballet Academy, at the 20th annual Run to Read on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Dirksen School. This event will include a 5K run/walk, a 1-mile walk and children’s races. This year the event will be hosted by the District 54 Education Foundation. The District 54 Education Foundation is committed to supporting students today and preparing students for tomorrow. It does that primarily by providing support to children from financially struggling families.

With this change in host, there is also a change in how the funds will be spent. All funds raised this year will be used to support programs for these families. By meeting the basic needs of students, they are preparing students to be successful at school, thus the name Run to Read still applies.

Not a runner? With a $10 donation, you can sponsor a D54 student whose family cannot afford to participate in this race. For $20, you can sponsor 2 children. For $100 you can sponsor 10. You get the idea.

Online registration is now closed. In-person registration opens at 7 a.m. on race day (September 22) in the Dirksen School gym.

T-shirts and Medals

Every registrant will receive a T-shirt and a finisher’s medal. To guarantee you receive a T-shirt in your preferred size, make sure to register by September 4, 2024. Any registrations or orders received after September 4 will be given T-shirts based on availability.

T-shirt and Packet Pickup

Packet pickup will be available the morning of the race. People who register by Sept. 18 may also pick up their registration packets from 2:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19 and from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20 at the District 54 Professional Learning Center, 522 E. Schaumburg Road in Schaumburg. If you are picking up on Friday, please avoid school bus traffic to our Early Learning Center by parking in the far east lot in front of the 2-story administration building. T-shirts are guaranteed in preferred size for all participants that register by September 4.

Race Day Timeline

7:00 a.m. Race day registration and packet pickup

7:30 a.m. Mascot Race

8:00 a.m. 100-yard and 400-yard races for children

9:00 a.m. 5K Run (USATF certified IL-18019-WR)

9:15 a.m. 1-mile walk (strollers allowed on walk and run)
